RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 31 March 2019 – Dominion

RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 31 March 2019 – Dominion

TOPIC: Dominion
OPENING PRAYER: Father, help me to exercise my dominion rightly. (Scroll down for RCCG Sunday School 31 March 2019 HYMN)
MEMORY VERSE: “Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands; thou hast put all things under his feet:” – Psalms 8:6 (scroll down for RCCG Sunday School 31 March 2019 HYMN)
BIBLE PASSAGE: Genesis 1:26-28 KJV (RCCG Sunday School TEACHER’s Manual 31 March 2019)
26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.
LESSON INTRODUCTION:
Kingdom means king’s domain. The domain is the area where the king has dominion (absolute control). Dominion also refers to sovereign and supreme authority; the power of governing and controlling. It is the power to direct, use and dispose at pleasure. One of the most beautiful features of the Christian life is that as God’s children, we are created for dominion (Gen. 1:28; Rev 1:6). God wants us to exercise dominion in every area of life.
TEXT REVIEW: GENESIS 1:26-28
The spheres of dominion which God gave to human beings especially His children are as follows:
i. Marine/aquatic/water hydrosphere and related substances and content. Gen. 1:26.
ii. Air/aerospace, clouds, atmosphere and related substances and content. Gen. 1:26.
iii. The earth surface, the earth strata, morphologies, solid minerals and related substances and content. Gen. 1:26.
Apostle Paul corroborated believers’ dominion through the Lord Jesus Christ when he said, “… at the name of Jesus every knee should bow …. Things in heaven, things on earth and things under the earth” .. (Phil 2:10-11). The problem lies in knowing things that are freely given to us by God (1 Cor. 2:12). Do we know that dominion is ours? The more of the Holy spirit in us, the more of Jesus in us, the more the dominion we exercise. 1 Cor. 2:10-16.

“Nigeria Not Eligible To Host World Cup Until At Least 2086” – FIFA

World football governing body, FIFA, has struck off Nigeria’s name from the list of countries eligible to host the FIFA World Cup for the next 70 years.
According to the reports, Nigeria’s name was struck off the list because of the nation’s epileptic power supply. A FIFA insider who begged us not to reveal his name said:

“FIFA’s biggest fear is that when, say, Germany and Argentina are playing the finals at, for instance, Akwa Ibom Stadium, and the whole world is watching… Lionel Messi is about to take a free kick at the edge of the 18-yard box and… Then BOOM! NEPA takes light! In front of billions! Disaster! World War 3! FIFA is not ready to take that chance at all.”
When asked how soon Nigeria would be eligible to host the World Cup and he said:
“Not sooner than 2086, I’m afraid. Provided Nigeria doesn’t even postpone the World Cup or declare it to be inconclusive, 2086 is the most realistic time FIFA believes Nigeria would be able to boast of stable power supply.”

Man sentenced to death for killing deputy govs daughter for ritual

Man sentenced to death for killing deputy govs daughter for ritual

Man sentenced to death for killing deputy gov’s daughter for ritualAn Ondo state High Court sitting in Akure has sentenced Seidu Adeyemi to death by hanging for killing Khadijat Oluboyo, daughter of former deputy governor of Ondo State.
Khadijat, a final year student of the Adekunle Ajasin University (AAU), Akugba-Akoko, was found dead inside the room of Adeyemi at his residence in Oke Aro area of Akure on July 2nd 2018.
The deceased and Seidu dated for eight years. According to police investigation, Seidu allegedly killed Khadijah for ritual purposes and then buried her in his room.
On July 12th 2018, while he was being paraded, Seidu denied killing Khadijah. Explaining how she was killed, Seidu said
“Khadijat was my girlfriend since 2010 and she visited me to help her in writing her final project in school. She slept in my place on Thursday and left on Friday the following day. She sent a text message to me on Monday, 2nd July that I should send some money to her. But I was surprised to see her that same Monday when she came with two boys to my room. I left her in my room with the two boys but when they called me some 30 minutes later, one of the guys brought out a gun and ordered me to kneel down while one of them was making love to Khadijat who was naked on my bed. Khadijat was begging them to leave and promising not to tell anyone about what happened but they strangulated her in the process and ordered me to go and bring digger and shovel. I thought they wanted to use that to escape from the scene of the incident but when I entered the room they were still there and ordered me to dig the grave where we buried her in my room and covered it with the rug. ”
Asked why he failed to alert her parents or tenants when he was ordered to look for the diggers, he said
“The tenants were busy watching World Cup match and the noise from the home theater in my room was too loud to make them know what was happening even when we were digging the grave in my room. The two boys left after burying her and I couldn’t sleep in my room that day and I had to sleep in my brother’s room because I wasn’t myself and I couldn’t tell anyone because no one will believe my story. I don’t know the two guys, though they have visited my place thrice with Khadijat I don’t know them or their names. I have been dating Khadijat since 2010, she was my girlfriend but I knew nothing about these guys, she invited them, I don’t know their names but I can recognise them.”
He denied killing Khadijat
“I did not kill Khadijat for money ritual, though I joined Yahoo business this year and never made any headway I don’t plan to do any ritual”.
Reacting to Adeyemi’s claims, the state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Femi Joseph, dismissed it, saying his defence is infantile
”His defence is very infantile and does not hold any water and I am very sure in the next few hours he should begin to talk”.
On how the suspect was arrested, the police spokesperson said
”We met the suspect who happened to be the boyfriend to the late Khadijat, in his room trying to pack the remains in a sack and this is to tell you that he killed Khadijat. According to him, he mentioned some other suspects now at large but we found that he single-handedly looked for digger, shovel, dug a grave in his room and buried Khadijat. The Police immediately swooped on him, and on close observation of his residence, it was discovered that the suspect had actually buried the missing girl for six days and was planning to exhume the remains and finally dispose of them. According to him, he was not comfortable with the stench coming from the decomposed body as it was not properly buried”

Another Building Collapses In Lagos

Another Building Collapses In Lagos

Another building has collapsed in Lagos on Monday, March 25.
The building, a two-storey edifice collapsed midday on Lagos Island.
According to the Lagos State Management Agency (LASEMA), no one was trapped in the rubbles.
Occupants of the collapsed building have been exiting all apartments and shops attached to the building after the Lagos State building control agency marked the building for demolition last week Friday.
A few others were still moving their property when the building caved in.
An eyewitness told Channels Television that a few people were injured and taken to the hospital
Security operatives and emergency workers have arrived at the scene to ensure others residents are safe and that the rubles are disposed of properly.
The incident on Monday comes on the heels of a similar mishap which was recorded in the metropolis on Wednesday, March 13, when three-storey building housing a school collapsed, trapping more than 100 persons, including pupils.
The ill-fated building was located on the crowded Ita-Faji street within the heart of Lagos Island.
Thousands of residents and many emergency workers descended on the scene and rescued many upon arrival, but some remained trapped and witnesses gave early death toll figures at eight to nine.
Lagos State Government (LASG) later confirmed that a total of 20 people were killed following the collapse of the three-storey building at Ita-Faaji.
The government thereafter set up a five-man panel to investigate the immediate and remote causes of the incident.
The Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development in Lagos, Rotimi Ogunleye, inaugurated the panel on Tuesday.
He explained that the terms of reference of the panel included proffering remedial measures to stem further building collapse in the future, as well as determining the level of negligence on the part of the developer or owner and the role of the state government.
Meanwhile, the commissioner of Ministry of Information & Strategy, Hon Kehinde Bamigbetan has said that LASG is working in line with best practices as it begins resettling of people displaced by the on-going demolitions of defective/distressed buildings in Lagos Island Area of the State.

ATIKU AND ADELEKE’S VICTORY AT THE TRIBUNAL

Monday letter1
Ademola Adeleke’s victory at the Election Petition Tribunal is a locus classicus for democracy.  It jogs the cerebral cortex and revivifies cautious hope in the judiciary. But really, the victory is just one small step to the archipelago of power in Osun State for the “dancing senator”.
In 2016, about 81 elections, conducted during the 2015 general election, were upturned by the courts. The highest number since the 2007 elections. Of significance is the nullification of the Rivers State governorship election, of which Nyesom Wike was declared winner, by an election petition tribunal. The Appeal Court upheld the decision of the tribunal sacking Wike, and when it seemed doom was certain for him, the Supreme Court affirmed his election.
While the tribunal and the Appeal Court hinged their judgments on alleged malpractices; failure to use card readers, ballot-box snatching, result fabrication and voter intimidation which beleaguered the election, the Supreme Court sat its own judgment on the wrong interpretation of the electoral guidelines as regards the use of card readers by the lower courts.
According to it, the card readers, though a good innovation, do not supersede the voter register, which was (reportedly) used in the exercise.
Although the facts of the cases vary, the split judgment in favour of Adeleke is not without divergent interpretation, which opens it to contest at the higher courts. In a majority decision held by two out of the three justices of the tribunal, the supplementary poll conducted in 17 polling units in Osun was said to be alien to the law because INEC had no authority to carry out the exercise in the first place.  Also, the returning officer, who cancelled the result in the disputed units, was said to have acted beyond the remit of his power.
Conversely, in a minority judgment, one of the justices held that when non-substantial compliance affected the outcome of the election, the tribunal, with respect to Section 140(2) of the Electoral Act, did not have the power to deduct the votes afflicted by irregularities from the scores of the candidates and declare a winner, and that the election petition court only had the power to cancel the results of the polling units affected by the malpractices and order a supplementary election.
So, it is one stream crossed, but two snaky rivers to navigate for Adeleke.
But what does the victory portend for Atiku Abubakar, who is challenging the outcome of the 2019 presidential election? Is there any glimmer of hope?
I think the victory is nothing significant but a psychological booster for the Atiku camp. Though it raises hope in the ability of the judiciary to deliver justice, the complexion of the Atiku case is markedly different from that of Adeleke.
The PDP presidential candidate claims he defeated President Muhammadu Buhari with 1.3 million votes in the election, and that votes in states that are “PDP strongholds” were suppressed.
The courts will have the last say, and hopefully justice will be served on a dispassionate, impartial, fair and balanced platter.

Nigeria set to become number one open defecation practising country

Nigeria is set to become the world’s open defecation capital, Suleiman Adamu, the Minister for Water Resources, has said.

Adamu stated this on Saturday while speaking on the theme: ‘Water, Sanitation and Hygiene for Sustained Development’ at the 3rd Founder’s Day ceremony of Edo University, Iyamho.

The minister, represented by Ahmad Saliu, the MD of Benin-Owena River Basin Development Authority, said Nigeria was unable to attain the Millennium Development Goals targets for water supply and sanitation because of poor investments, low capacity and other challenges.

Adamu said: “Nigeria will become the number one open defecation practising country when Indian becomes open defecation free in October.

Access to sanitation has been on the decline from 30% in 2010 to 28% in 2015. Open defecation has been on the increase and there was not a single LGA in Nigeria that is open defecation free.

It is estimated that more than 48 million Nigerians practise open defecation and that placed Nigeria as second in the world (behind Indian). So far there are 10 LGAs in the country that have attained open defecation free status.”
